City watering hole lands prestigious title at industry awards.
An Aberdeen pub has received a top accolade for serving the best quality pint in Scotland.
The Illicit Still on Netherkirkgate scooped the Tennent’s Quality Award at the 2011 DRAM Scottish Licensed Trade Awards at a prestigious awards ceremony in Glasgow.
The pub’s assistant manager Bruce Milton said the pub’s staff were delighted to have been honoured by their industry peers.
He said: “The award was based not just on the quality of the actual pints we serve but also the warm welcome that customers receive, the atmosphere inside the pub and the friendliness of the staff. We are over the moon to have won the award.
“We have been very busy since the pub’s recent revamp but hopefully this will encourage even more people to come through the doors.”
DRAM editor Susan Young said: “It was a great night, and it was a real testament to the success story that is the Scottish licensed trade. This industry is dynamic, professional and forward thinking, and the people picking up the awards, and the finalists, are a credit to the industry.”
A full list of the award winners can be found on the DRAM Scotland website.
