Dundee dance company return to Banchory with interpretive dance show

The Woodend Barn is hosting a spectacular performance by Dundee dance group Smallpetitklein, based on the haunting images by Richard Drew that followed in the wake of the World Trade Centre attacks on September 11, 2001.

Within the Dust, which has gathered rave reviews for each performance, culminates in an emotional piece entitled Falling Man, exploring humanity and beauty through subtle storytelling and movement.

Performing to sell-out crowds during the Edinburgh Fringe last year, Within the Dust will soon head to New York, but the Dundee-based company will be stopping off in Banchory beforehand for an exclusive warm-up show.

The show was developed following a series of residencies at the Woodend Barn and Emma Jane Beatt, executive producer for Smallpetitklein, is excited to be returning to the venue which kick-started the show.

She said: "We are delighted to be bringing Within This Dust back to Woodend Barn, as the opportunity to be in residence at the Barn has been instrumental in the development of the work, and we are really excited to get a chance to perform it in full now in Banchory.

"We then take Within This Dust on tour to New York and across the rest of the UK. It’s fantastic to develop work at Woodend which we can then tour internationally."

Within the Dust will be performed at the Woodend Barn, Banchory on Februaruy 13. Tickets are available by calling 01330 825431 or by visiting the Woodend Barn website.
