Many people would think balloons are for children, but one Cumbernauld couple have managed to turn the party favourite into a successful business.

Caesar’s Party Supplies, based in the Craiglinn industrial estate, has become a firm favourite among Scotland’s brides and some of the biggest names in the hospitality industry.

Making impressive sculptures to decorate a venue, the Cumbernauld company – run by Eastfield couple Claire Devlin and Paul McNeill – has now become a well-established name within the industry.

The idea for Caesars came about after the couple were on holiday and noticed bars wanted lots of balloons to decorate for special events.

From that, Claire and Paul set up their business in 2003, running it as an online shop to begin with. After five years, the business had grown so much that they took on the base within Cumbernauld and haven’t looked back.

And with the wedding show season about to kick into full swing, Claire says the products the company can offer still surprise people.

She said: “We are total balloon geeks. If you want something unusual, this is the place to come.

“A lot of the brides hadn’t thought of them but once they see them they love the idea and realise it could be a less expensive alternative to flowers for table decorations.”

The couple were even recently given recognition for their work in the industry when they were only one of three Scottish companies, and one of 20 companies in total, to be invited to a special training event in London by one of the industry’s major suppliers – where the impressive ragdoll pictured was created.
