A night of political satire is hoping to win the votes of Edinburgh’s polling public on the eve of this year’s Scottish Elections.
RealPolitik are staging a comedy and poetry night at the city’s Voodoo Rooms under the banner of Unholyrood?
The well kent face of Susan Morrison will be MC for the May 4 event which kicks off at 8pm at the West Register Street venue.
Confirmed for the line up so far are performers Vladimir McTavish, Tom Leonard, David Kinloch, Keir McAllister, Jeff O’Boyle and Gordon Alexander.
Music on the night will come from The Sensational Alex Salmond Band.
Organisers say they won’t be spending their time out on the stump or knocking doors but relying on their websiteand Twitter feed to do the talking.
Their official blurb reads: “Bored of listening to politicians blethering on? Fancy a break from the endless opinion polls and analysts’ chatter?
“Then Unholyrood, Scotland’s first dedicated evening of political cabaret, is just what you need.
“Imagine a party political conference. Now imagine the exact opposite – you’ve got Unholyrood.
“The idea behind Unholyrood is disarmingly simple – a big night out with big ideas and big laughs loosely based around politics and the Holyrood elections.
“Whatever spin you put on it, there’ll be something for you at Unholyrood.”
Tickets are priced £5 in advance and £6 on the door, of £4 for OAPs, students and the unwaged.
