A man has appeared in court in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in a burning flat on Monday morning.
Stewart Taylor, 33, had suffered serious head injuries when fire crews found his body after being called to the blaze in Chalmers Crescent in the Grange are of Edinburgh.
His 30-year-old girlfriend Lynsey Methven was rescued from the fire with serious injuries. She is still in hospital.
Frank Moore, 43, appeared on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday charged with Mr Taylor’s murder, Ms Methven’s attempted murder and breach of the peace.
He made no plea nor declaration during the brief appearance in front of Sheriff Derrick McIntyre and his case was continued for further inquiry.
Moore, from Dalkeith, was remanded in custody until his next appearance.
