Seven residents had to be led to safety after a fire broke out in the basement of a tenement block in Edinburgh.
Lothian and Borders fire service went to block in Clerk Street in the Newington area of the capital around 7.50pm on Tuesday. The blaze was brought under control shortly after 9.30pm.
It is understood the fire began in the basement of the five-storey building and spread to the three floors above.
Seven residents were led to safety but no one was thought to be injured in the incident.
Parts of Clerk Street and Nicolson Street were closed to traffic as police set up diversions.
Lothian and Borders Police said that they are investigating the fire, which they said is suspicious.
