An Edinburgh bowling green has raised hundreds of pounds for a local charity that supports people living with multiple sclerosis.

Corstorphine Bowling Green on Saughton Road North raised £800 from gifts and donations from guests, members and a raffle at a special dinner dance during its Ladies Golden Jubilee year.

The funds raised will help the MS Therapy Centre Lothian, based in Leith, to continue its support of over 200 people in Edinburgh living with MS.

Vicky Page, Ladies Match Secretary at Corstorphine Bowling Club said: “We’re delighted to have raised such a significant sum of money for the MS Therapy Centre.

“Money came from gifts given to us from our guests, donations from members and the proceeds of a raffle at our Ladies Jubilee dinner dance.

“We made the decision to support MS as our Ladies Golden Jubilee charity.

We have two ladies known to us in our Club who have multiple sclerosis and we felt that we wanted the money to be used in Edinburgh to give those with the condition some comfort and respite.”

The MS Therapy Centre raises the majority of its funds through member donations and fundraising.

Bruce Laidlaw, Chairman of the MS Therapy Centre said: “We are immensely grateful for this very generous donation. These funds will help us to continue providing an invaluable lifeline to people living with MS.”
