Hundreds of shotgun rounds have been stolen from an international clay pigeon shooting event in West Lothian.
The ammunition had been locked away in the main building or Morton Clays Targets shooting club in Livingston.
When staff returned to the building on Morton Road on Friday morning, the cartridges had been stolen along with a three-figure sum of money.
The theft happened sometime between 11pm on Thursday September 1 and Friday September 2 and Lothian and Borders Police are appealing for witnesses.
A police spokesman said: "We are carrying out local enquiries to try and recover the stolen ammunition and ensure it cannot be used for any criminal purposes.
"Anyone who was in or around Morton Road on Thursday night or the early hours of Friday morning and remembers seeing anything suspicious is asked to contact police immediately.
"Similarly, anyone with any other information that can assist us in identifying those responsible for this theft should also come forward.”
Anyone with any information can contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
