Travellers have experienced disruption after a person was hit by a train at Linlithgow.
The incident happened on the Edinburgh-Glasgow route at around 7pm, and commuters are being told to expect delays of up to 60 minutes to their journeys.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said crews were at the scene from around 7.30pm, but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said: "BTP was called to Linlithgow station after reports that a person had been struck by a train.
"Officers from BTP and Lothian and Borders Police attended the incident, which was reported at 7.20pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
"The person was pronounced dead at the scene. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."
A statement on the National Rail Enquiries website reads: "A person has been hit by a train at Linlithgow.
"Because of this, there are delays of up to 60 minutes between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street / Stirling. These delays are expected to last until approximately 22:00."
ScotRail said short notice alterations, cancellations and delays can be expected on the line.
The line is expected to be back on schedule by 10pm.
