Local charity the Eric Liddell Centre has announced the programme for a day-long event promoting healthy lifestyles.
In partnership with Edinburgh based Hanover Healthfoods, the UK’s longest-established health store, the second annual Healthy Lifestyle event will feature lectures, presentations and information to get people fighting fit.
GPs, medical herbalists and nutritionists will be amongst the speakers on the day, where food samples, therapies and free health advice will also be on offer.
Dr Marilyn Glenville PhD, on of the UK’s leading nutritionists specialising in women’s health, will be delivering a lecture explaining how women can get rid of belly fat for good as well as presenting natural solutions to side effects of the menopause.
She said: “The Hanover Healthfoods Healthy Lifestyle event was so popular last year that it is exciting to be involved in it again this year. There are excellent talks scheduled throughout the day with lots to see on the exhibition stands and healthy food to try.”
Owners of the store have selected the Eric Liddell Centre as their chosen charity for the event, with £2.50 of every £10 ticket sold going towards its work providing care services for people in the community.
Ewan Hastings, the charity’s fundraising manager, said: “We’re delighted with our continued association with Hanover Heathfoods. Proceeds raised from the day will go to our services for some of Edinburgh’s most marginalised people, and wisely spent. On that point, just 8p of every £1 that’s donated to us goes on administration. 92p in the pound goes on our services.”
Visitors to the event will also receive a goodie bag filled with £25 worth of health goods, and can take part in a raffle raising proceeds for the Eric Liddell Centre.
Ainslie Friel, owner of Hanover Healthfoods, added: “The talks cover so many different areas, it really is a fantastic day out if you are interest in natural health. There will be a chance to talk to the speakers and we hope that it will provide a turning point for many of those who attend. For us, being able to help such a well-respected local charity like the Eric Liddell Centre is a bonus too.”
The Hanover Healthfoods Healthy Lifestyle event will take place on Saturday, March 3 from 9.30am to 5pm at Merchants’ hall, Hanover Street.
