A man became trapped under an eight ton steamroller as he allegedly tried to steal it.
The 25-year-old had to be rescued by fire crews after getting stuck under the roller on Johnnie Cope Road in Tranent at 3.45pm on Sunday.
After an hour and a half he was freed and taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary under police escort with a serious leg injury.
Three men, aged 25, 26 and 47, have been charged with the attempted theft of the steamroller.
Two of them are due to appear at Haddington Sheriff Court on Monday.
A warrant has been issued for the 25-year-old who is still in hospital.
A police spokesperson said: "Three men have been charged with the alleged attempted theft of the steamroller. Two of the men are due to appear at Haddington Sheriff Court today. A 25-year-old man has been reported for warrant."
