Stephen McCann: The 20-year-old died when he was knocked down in Fife.

A second man has appeared in court charged with the culpable homicide of a pedestrian who was killed in a road accident in Fife.

Stephen McCann, 20, from Leslie in Fife, died after he was hit by a silver Ford Focus at Greenside, High Street at around 3.15am on Saturday.

Andrew Russell from Glenrothes appeared in court on Wednesday charged with culpable homicide and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The 24-year-old made no plea nor declaration and was remanded in custody. His case was continued for further examination.

Alistair Dick, 25, from Glenrothes, has already appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court charged with culpable homicide and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Police are still appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to speak to taxi drivers who may have picked someone up from Glenrothes and taken them to Leven in the early hours of Saturday.

Detective Inspector Charlie Duncan said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who has any information about this tragic accident. In particular, I am keen to speak to any local taxi driver who may have collected someone from the Collydean area of Glenrothes around 04.00am on Saturday and taken them to the Promenade area of Leven.

"I would also ask anybody who was driving in the Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes or Leslie areas in the early hours of Saturday to try to recall if they saw a silver Ford Focus, and the direction it was being driven."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Fife Constabulary on 0845 600 5702 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
