A woman who died after being pulled from her burning cottage in Midlothian has been named.
Mary Mackie, 65, was unconscious and not breathing when firefighters rescued her from the kitchen of her home at Crawlees Cottages in Newtongrange, Midlothian.
The 65-year-old was given CPR at the scene by both fire crews and ambulance staff before being taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where she was pronounced dead.
Neighbours had called the emergency services when they heard the smoke alarm go off in the house just after 12pm on Tuesday.
It took 20 firefighters almost an hour to put out the blaze, which had started in the kitchen and had taken over the ground floor of the building when they arrived.
An investigation is still ongoing into the cause of the fire but early signs show it was an electrical fire.
