Honorary degree for Archbishop Tutu

Archbishop Desmond Tutu has received an honorary degree from Edinburgh University.

The South African cleric and anti-apartheid activist became a Doctor of Divinity at the ceremony then celebrated with other students. The 77-year-old now devotes much of his time to an HIV foundation in his name and speaking out on poverty.

He was awarded the Nobel Peace prize in 1984 for his work against apartheid in South Africa.

He has been awarded a number of other honorary degrees over the years, from institutions around the world including Yale University in the US as well as Oxford and Cambridge in England and Aberdeen University on Scotland.
