An elderly couple was "shocked" to find a snake wrapped around a toilet seat at their home.
The pair made the discovery at their flat on Storie Street in Paisley on Saturday evening and called the Scottish SPCA for assistance.
The 16-inch serpent, which has been nicknamed “Lulu”, is being cared for at the charity’s Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Cardonald.
Chief Inspector Fiona Henderson said: "We understand Lulu managed to make her way into the bathroom by squeezing through a gap in the wall next to the toilet pipe.
"The lady who found her got quite a fright, but did the right thing by containing the snake in the room and calling us for help.
"Pythons are generally known for their placid nature and relatively small size so although they can look a bit scary, they aren't dangerous.
"We're keen to reunite Lulu with her owner who probably lives close by. She's in good body condition and well fed so we're sure someone is missing her."
Anyone who recognises Lulu is being asked to call the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
