Zombies to invade Glasgow

Thousands of zombies are set to take over Glasgow’s west end this weekend to celebrate all that is undead.

Following last year’s madness - when around 400 people took part in the inaugural Zombie Walk in the city - organisers say 4000 people have signed up to stagger and crawl through Kelvingrove Park from 3pm on Sunday.

This will follow a Zombie Ball, which will be held on Saturday night at the city’s Sloans Bar. After the Sunday 'death walk', an after party and movie marathon will be held at the same pub.

Colin Armstrong, the founder of the Glasgow Zombie Walk, commented: "We’re growing the Glasgow Zombie Walk into a Zombie Fest this year and we want the city’s Zombie community out in force to support us.

"Whether you’re a Zombie veteran or a Zombie virgin we want you to dig out a costume, tear it to shreds, cover yourself in ketchup, give us your most vacant stare and join us for a dead cool weekend of Zombie inspired activity.

"We’re looking for people to go all out on costumes this year.  Last year we had a Zombie clown, a Zombie Lego man and a nine month pregnant Zombie giving birth through her stomach…at least we think that was a costume.

"This year we want people to really let their imaginations run wild."

Last year, STV was there to film the shenanigans as the undead staggered through the streets of Scotland’s largest city. We will be there again this year to capture all the action.

Those wishing to take part have been asked to meet at the Park Road/Eldon Street entrance to the park. For more information, go to www.glasgowzombiewalk.co.uk
