Two armed men tried to rob a coffee shop in Glasgow’s south side at closing time.
Police say two members of staff were closing the Beanscene Café in Skirving Street, Shawlands at around 10.30pm on Tuesday. As the final customer of the day was leaving the shop, two men armed with a baseball bat and a bladed weapon tried to force their way inside.
The staff members and the customer managed to rush back inside and lock the door behind them. The two raiders then ran off in the direction of Deanston Drive. Both suspects are white Scottish men aged between 21 and 25. The first was 5ft 10in tall, thin, and is described as having a "long, prominent nose".
At the time of the attempted robbery, he was wearing a light-coloured hooded top with a dark scarf and light tracksuit bottoms. The second suspect is described as around 5ft 8in tall, and stocky. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top.
Detective Constable Colin Murphy said: "Thankfully, neither the staff nor the customer was injured in this blatant attempt to steal from the cafe.
"I would appeal to anyone who was around Skirving Street in Shawlands around 10.30pm and may have seen two men hanging around to contact me as soon as possible.
"I would also ask that anyone who has any information or can help to identify these two men to call Govan CID on 0141 532 5517. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous."
