Students from Cardonald College Glasgow have been helping BAA staff at Glasgow airport to beat the January blues as part of BAA’s health and well-being week.

The nine Cardonald students were involved in providing free treatments such as holistic facials, aromatherapy, Indian head massage, reflexology, reiki and body massage.

All are qualified holistic or beauty therapists studying for a Diploma in using therapy techniques as an aid to stress management.

Glasgow Airport has an active ‘healthy working lives committee’ with representatives from all grades and departments. The company already gained awards for staff care.

Carol Davidson, from BAA said: "This is the time of the year when staff can be feeling an anti-climax from the holiday celebrations, it is still winter and the summer holidays seem a long way off, so we decided to pamper the staff by letting them try various activities on the company time.

"Key to this was for every member of staff to have a health check and nursing support to kick start a programme of checks during our health and well-being week, which will be on-going throughout the year.

"The Cardonald students carried out their impressive range of therapies very professionally, demonstrating to our staff that relaxation, looking good and taking care of your skin and body can improve your well-being, ward off the blues and even improve mental health."
