A disgraced teacher who had sex with two pupils in a school cupboard faces being struck off.
Muir McCormick, 39, targeted the teenage girls who were pupils at Bearsden Academy near Glasgow.
On Wednesday he was jailed for 14 months for engaging in sexual activity with the girls, then aged 17 and 16, at the school and at the home he shared with wife, at a Glasgow cinema and in a tent at a park.
The General Teaching Council for Scotland confirmed that it will now consider the matter as the criminal proceedings have been concluded.
McCormick, who resigned from his post at the school after being initially suspended, faces being struck off from the professional register for the offences.
A council spokesman said: "We are aware of it and we will now start our own investigation into the matter."
Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard he targeted the older girl between August 2007 and May 2008 before seducing the other youngster several times from December 2008 to May 2009.
During the trial it was revealed the 16-year-old left school to study elsewhere and disclosed the matter to a member of staff at her hall of residence, then told her family.
She said that months before the first sexual encounter, the girl sent McCormick a note setting out "her feelings" towards him. McCormick reported it to his department head before he unexpectedly offered to help her with maths.
The court heard McCormick also gave her a child’s dress and skirt and a badge saying "I'm Eight". The maths teacher confessed to the girl that he "fantasised" about eight-year-old girls, but the pupil said she did not want to dress up in that outfit on the web cam as he had suggested.
Police discovered the relationship with the second girl from phone records, after questioning the 16-year-old.
McCormick, of Park Gate, Erskine, Renfrew, pled guilty to abusing a position of trust as a teacher by grooming, fondling, and having sex with the girls. The activity covered a period from December 1, 2008, to May 31, 2009.
He had a plea of not guilty accepted to a charge of possessing child pornography.
