A protest has taken place at one of Glasgow's newest urban spaces.

Campaigners say the decision to build four retail and leisure outlets on the clyde will blight a part of the city which could be a future tourist attraction.

The area recently underwent a £7.7m renovation, and is popular with workers in the nearby offices.

The New Glasgow Society said: "This public space is set to be privatised with four brutish and disproportionate buildings encompassing the majority of this beautiful public realm.

"Inside these buildings an array of generic coffee shops and likely multi-national eateries will be installed to take your cash and deprive Glasgow's city centre workers of a rare pleasant outdoor space to relax and enjoy a picnic."

Those behind the development insist it is an exciting opportunity.
