Rangers FC have confirmed their owner Craig Whyte was previously banned from serving as a company director.
The businessman was disqualified for seven years in 2000 while in charge of Vital UK Ltd.
Earlier this year a BBC Scotland documentary revealed Mr Whyte's previous ban. This week, the Ibrox club announced the ban to the stock exchange in London.
The announcement was made under the rules of Plus SX, the exchange Rangers trade on, which state any directors must reveal any "official public incrimination or sanction" they have received.
Although it is understood the entrepreneur does not dispute that he was banned, he has initiated legal proceedings to sue the BBC for defamation over other "unfounded" allegations made in the programme.
The announcement was made as Rangers released their first annual unaudited accounts to the stock exchange.
