Residents from 20 Glasgow flats which were evacuated last week after reports of a subsiding tenement building remain out of their homes.

Roads and shops around the four-storey structure at 594 London Road, at its junction with Landressy Street, were closed by police on Friday as building control experts investigated the scene.

Over 100 residents in the city’s East End were forced out of their homes as a result, with police setting up a command centre in the nearby Bridgeton Library.

On Monday, a spokesman for Glasgow City Council said some properties on London Road, on Landressy Street and the William Hill shop on London Road remain out of bounds to the public, with road closures in the area still in place. It is unclear how many people remain affected as a result of the subsidence, the spokesman added.

While the majority of people are back in their homes, those who are not will not be allowed to return until experts are satisfied that members of the public are not at risk.

The council would not be drawn as to how long this process could take. Flats and shops around the property were initially evacuated after reported "movement" of the building on London Road.

The disturbance caused disruption to train services at the nearby Bridgeton Train Station on Friday afternoon, while football fans travelling to Celtic’s match against Dundee United at Parkhead on Saturday were diverted.
