An inquiry will be held into the death of a toddler neglected and murdered by his mother.
Declan Hainey was killed by his mother Kimberley, who left the 15-month-old’s body to rot in his cot for nine months.
Earlier this month, the 37-year-old was jailed for life with a minimum of 15 years after being found guilty of murder by a jury.
She was also convicted of failing to report Declan's death to police or other authorities and of concealing his body at the flat in Paisley’s Bruce Road before it was discovered by relatives in March 2010.
On Thursday, the procurator fiscal at Paisley confirmed it will apply to the sheriff court to hold a fatal accident inquiry into the death.
A Crown Office statement on the inquiry read: "The decision to hold an FAI was made by Crown Counsel.
"Following Kimberley Hainey's conviction, the procurator fiscal at Paisley reported the matter to the Crown Office Scottish Fatalities Investigation Unit and thereafter to Crown Counsel for consideration of a fatal accident inquiry."
Fatal accident inquiries can be ordered into deaths where there are issues of public safety or it is deemed to be in the public interest to do so.
