Firefighters battled for three hours to extinguish a fire in a vacant North Lanarkshire pub.
Strathclyde Fire and Rescue attended the blaze in an unoccupied building in Newarthill at 4.30pm on Sunday, January 29.
Crews from Motherwell Community Fire Station and Bellshill Community Fire Station tackled the ‘well developed fire’ within the single storey building on Church Street.
Pockets of fire spread into the roof and had to be extinguished with a firefighting jet from above the building.
Strathclyde Fire and Rescue were on the scene until 10pm.
North Lanarkshire Building Standards Section worked closely with crews to ensure that the building would be left in a safe and secure state.
It is thought that the building will now be demolished.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and an investigation will be held by Strathclyde Police.
