The Scots owner of a rugby club claims he has made "tentative enquiries" about buying over crisis-hit Rangers.
Sale Sharks boss Brian Kennedy, who was previously linked with a takeover bid for Hibernian FC in 1998, has confirmed he is interested in taking over the Ibrox club.
Mr Kennedy bought the Cheshire club in 2000 and they are currently seventh in the English Rugby Union Premiership.
A spokesman for Mr Kennedy told STV that the businessman had made "tentative enquiries" about buying over the Ibrox club.
In 2007, Mr Kennedy provided Kate and Gerry McCann with funding in their appeal to trace missing daughter Madeleine.
Administrators Duff and Phelps, who took over Rangers last Tuesday, previously said they had received "several expressions of interest" in relation to the club.
Previously, press reports linking former Portsmouth owner Milan Mandaric with Rangers were dismissed as "without foundation" by the businessman.
Former Ibrox director Paul Murray is also reportedly interested in fronting up a fans’ consortium bid for the club, dubbed the Blue Knights.
