Lego to build big business in Scotland with new store at Buchanan Galleries

Lego mania: The Danish brick experts Lego will be opening up a new store in Buchanan Galleries.

Whether it's been a colourful house, an inventive car or an attempt at a spaceship, everyone has, at some point, spent hours building their own Lego creations

Now the iconic brand will be capturing even more imaginations as it prepares to open its first Scottish store in Buchanan Galleries.

The Danish brick experts will be bringing the figurines and plastic blocks to the 2,550 sq ft shop in the Glasgow’s city centre.

The opening of the toy shop in spring, marks the company's 11th store in the UK.

Florian Mayer, the European marketing manager for Lego Stores said: "With the opening of our 11th store in the UK, we are now also offering our Scottish fans a wide range of Lego products, including exclusive and difficult to find sets that aren’t available elsewhere and unique Lego hands-on, minds-on play experiences."

The popular children’s brand's move to Glasgow has been welcomed by Land Securities and Henderson Global Investors, the partnership who own the Buchanan Galleries.

Speaking on behalf of the Buchanan Partnership Katherine Armstead said: "We are eagerly awaiting the opening of the Lego Store which is a fantastic addition to Buchanan Galleries.

"The Lego Store is a showcase for this international brand and we are thrilled that the company has decided to open its first Scottish store in Glasgow’s top shopping destination."

The addition of the Danish toy company follows the recent arrivals of The Fragrance Shop and artisan oils, vinegars, wines, spirits and liqueurs specialists Vom Fass.
