Motherwell is well served by buses, many of which use the advantage of the nearby M74 for a quicker journey time. It has links with Glasgow, Hamilton, and more locally Bellshill, Uddingston, Coatbridge and Wishaw.

Law Bus and Coach operates the 240x service, which runs between Glasgow Buchanan Bus station, and Motherwell at Airbles Road. The route goes on to Wishaw, Law, Carluke and Lanark.

The X11 service operated by First Bus runs between Newmains and Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station. From Motherwell, it is an express service to Glasgow. It also runs via Wishaw and Netherton.

First Bus service 240 operates between Newmains and Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station, passing through Motherwell town centre. The bus also provides a link to Bellshill, Wishaw, Birkenshaw, Viewpark and Parkhead.

A&J Ballantyne service 5 runs a circular route between Motherwell and Bellshill, via Motherwell Station.

First Bus service 201 operates between Hamilton and Hairmyres Hospital in East Kilbride. The route runs through Motherwell at Hamilton Road and Muir Street. It also provides a link with Coatbride, Bellshill, Hamilton and Blantyre.

First Bus service 241 operates between Parkside and North Motherwell, travelling via Wishaw and Netherton.

Service 245, the First Bus Forgewood - North Lodge Circular, runs through Dinmont Crescent, Duke Street, North Lodge, Motherwell Railway Station, and Milton Street.

Service 55, operated by Stepend Travel, is a circular route from Motherwell Station to Newarthill.

Service 253, operated by Whitelaws Coaches, runs between Coalburn and Netherton at Wishaw General Hospital. It passes through Motherwell at Hamilton Road. It also provides links to Lesmahagow, Blackwood, and Larkhall.

First Bus Service 255 runs from Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station, via Motherwell at Brandon Parade, to Newharthill.

First Bus service 266 / 267 operates between Dykehead and Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station, via Motherwell at Merry Street. It also runs via Newmains, Wishaw, Netherton, Hamilton, Blantyre, Cambuslang, Rutherglen, and Shawfield.
